DRAFT Komnas HAM’s Statements on 4th Human Rights Council inter-sessional meeting on Human Rights and the 2030 Agenda 18th January 2022 Ladies and gentlemen, ● The role of National Human Rights Institution (NHRIs) in monitoring the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda or SDGs specifically on SDG number 5 on gender equality and SDG number 17 on partnerships is very important; ● The Merida Declaration sets out how NHRIs contribute to a human rights-based approach to implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. It highlights the importance of integrating human rights and SDGs in ongoing NHRI works; ● NHRI as independent body can monitor the implementation of the SDGs through providing a source of accurate data. It can also use of their bridging role, by bringing together government and civil society – essential to ensure the success of the SDGs number 5 and number 17. both of goals, SDG 5 and SDG 17 should maintained be implemented amidst the Covid-19 pandemic as the crisis are affected the women and erode budget to achieve SDGs; ● Indonesia National Commission on Human Rights or Komnas HAM’s research on the role of NHRI in monitoring the implementation of SDGs during COVID-19 underscored the readiness to join forces with all partners and build better and more equal societies for all; ● Komnas HAM has discussed the requirements of a human-rights-based approach to the implementation and measurement of the 2030 Agenda and identified the needs support, including the development of National Action Plans on SDGs which is prepared by The Ministry of National Development Planning of Republic of Indonesia as the SDGs focal point; ● Komnas HAM needs to ensure that government are mobilizing the maximum resources including through international cooperation to achieve SDGs on all goals amidst Covid-19 pandemic especially SDG number 5 and SDG number 17; ● Especially related with SDGs number 17, Komnas HAM argues that this is important goals related with the SDGs financing as the Covid-19 pandemic has had a tremendous impact on health, social, and economic aspects.
