found in all documentation related to the 24 NHRIs reviewed, and all NHRIs involved in interviews
discussed their external gender activities – whether mainstreamed or gender-focused.
One survey respondent indicated that gender disaggregated data is not collected or reported,
while 68% (17) said that it is collected or reported most, or all, of the time. The weighted average
score for this indicator was 2.96, which was one of the lowest achieved indicators. It was found
across the three GBA methods that NHRIs provide gender disaggregated numbers from aspects
of their work, but few do this consistently. While most NHRIs report gender disaggregated data
(notably their complaints data, or the participants of activities) there appears to be little
understanding, or reporting, of how these activities impact on the outcomes for women, men and
gender diverse people and on the progression of gender equality.
