The produce which came from various provinces in the CALABARZON region is part of the initial shipments of agricultural products to be delivered in Metro Manila through a collaboration of the national government and farmers’ cooperatives and organizations.126 146 Assisted by the DA, Bulacan farmers started their regular shipment of affordable produce to Metro Manila markets with a delivery of 90 metric tons of assorted vegetables at Juliana Market in Balintawak on 26 January 2021. Agriculture Secretary William Dar said this is only the beginning as more products from nearby provinces in Luzon will be mobilized to Metro Manila and distributed in different markets to stabilize prices of basic food commodities.127 147 The National Social Weather Survey (SWS) of September 12-16, 2021 found that 10.0% or an estimated 2.5 million families experienced involuntary hunger – hunger due to lack of food to eat – at least once in the past three months.
