(7) Promoting partnerships 1. Enhancing awareness of labor rights and responsibilities among employers and employees: a. Corporate social responsibility (CSR): Encouraging businesses to adopt Fisheries Improvement Projects (FIPs) to strengthen their CSR practices. In 2023, 470 distant water fishing vessels were guided to participate in FIP projects, with 60 vessels undergoing Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification. b. Educational outreach and crew support: In 2023, subsidies were provided to fisheries and civil organizations, or collaborations were established with official institutions in crew members’ home countries to host 41 activities, including crew support, networking, and legal awareness campaigns, attended by over 1,000 crew members. Crew members who required legal aid were referred to the Legal Aid Foundation for assistance. 2. Engaging with civil society organizations a. Inviting NGOs and academic experts to observe inspections of working conditions in the fishing industry and provide suggestions for improvement. In 2023, NGOs were invited to participate in 75 inspections, with representatives attending 39 sessions. b. The Fisheries Agency hosts regular policy exchange forums with NGOs, incorporating numerous NGO recommendations into policy. In 2023, eight communication and exchange sessions were conducted with civil society organizations. ii.
