Child Labourers in M/s. Salguti Plastic Limited at Mahabubnagar, Andhra Pradesh (Case No. 401/1/2006-2007) 4.228 The NHRC had directed the Secretary, Department of Education to submit the latest report with regard to compensation, if any, awarded to the injured person who had lost his legs. The State Government in its report informed that the victim had been paid a sum of Rs. 35,500 as per section 4(1) (d) read with section 7 of the Workmen Compensation Act, 1923. In addition, a sum of Rs. 1,10,000 had also been paid to the victim towards his medical and other expenses. The final report regarding compensation under the Workmen’s Compensation Act 1923 is awaited by the NHRC. 27. Dharampal and 28 Others Kept as Bonded Labourers along with their Families at Meerut District, Uttar Pradesh (Case No. 36851/24/2006-2007) 4.229 The NHRC had directed the District Magistrate, Meerut to formally release all the bonded labourers from bondage and issue a certificate of release to each of them. He was also directed to sanction Rs.5,80,000 (at the rate of Rs. 20,000 each) to all the bonded labourers towards their rehabilitation. The NHRC had further directed that Rs.43,800 be paid to the labourers towards minimum wages, which had been outstanding against the employer. 4.230 The Deputy District Magistrate, Meerut, reported that the release of 25 bonded labourers had been notified. The status of the remaining three bonded labourers could not be included in the concerned list as they were minors. The NHRC directed the District Magistrate, Meerut to submit a report with regard to payment of amount for rehabilitation of the bonded labourers, as recommended by it. The report is awaited from the District Magistrate, Meerut. 28. Death of Waiter Due to Denial of Medical Care (Case No.2272/30/2005-2006) 4.231 The Commission had recommended to the Government of NCT of Delhi to pay Rs.50, 000 to the next of kin of the deceased Waiter. Since the legal heirs of the deceased were not traceable, the NHRC closed the case with the observation that the amount be paid to the next of kin of the deceased as and when they approach for payment. 29. Death of Venugopalan Nair in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, due to Denial of Medical Treatment (Case No. 95/11/1999-2000) 4.232 In this case, the NHRC had recommended to the State Government to pay an amount of Rs. 50,000 as monetary relief to the next of kin of the deceased.
