RIGHTS OF STUDENTS       Participated in a protest which was held by law students in front of Karachi Press club. The protest was about Mr. Rehmat Pitafi, a third-year law student, who was abducted by the LEA from his residence. Meeting with various commissions that work in Sindh on harassment issues in educational institutions. Member Sindh visited Karachi University to meet with the students and teachers on the subject of harassment in educational institutes. To quantify the issues a survey on harassment at educational institutes has been undertaken with support of UN Women and will be published soon. Visited the Minority Affairs department to meet with the DG regarding utilisation of the minority student’s scholarship program. NCHR Regional Office Sindh took suo moto notice of the harassment occurring in education institutions, particularly a medical university in Karachi. Member Sindh visited the Jinnah Sindh Medical University for an inquiry into the case. Member Sindh was invited as guest speaker to a consultative meeting at Karachi Press Club organised by the HRCP. The topic was "Restoration of Student Unions" where the Sindh Student Union Act 2019 was discussed along with the challenges in its implementation and future recommendations. WOMEN’S RIGHTS         Member Sindh met with the organisers of Aurat March where they discussed the issues and challenges faced by the Aurat March movement, and discussed how to mitigate the challenges. Participated in the consultation meeting organised by the Aurat Foundation on the subject of launching a research report on domestic violence case registration. Meeting with WAF team to discuss the increase in the harassment and murder of women in upper Sindh. Meeting with Dr Ayesha Darejo a researcher and head of the NGO “Sindh Suhai Sath” regarding honor killings in upper Sindh. Invited to an event by the Sindh Commission on Status of Women on the 5th National Women’s Day Attended a press conference organised by Tehrik E Niswan, a women’s organization. Meeting with the Provincial Ombudsman of Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace. The purpose of meeting was to coordinate and build a working relationship. Mr. Pirbhu Satyani, human rights researcher, and Mr. Akram Khaskeli CEO HARI Welfare Association, visited NCHR Regional Office Sindh and met with NCHR Member Sindh. They discussed issues faced by the Hari women in the field. 85
