The Commission nonetheless makes a fervent appeal to these Governments to expedite the cases pending in their respective High Courts. It also trusts that the Governments of other States, as well as authorities under the Government of India, who are recommended to make the payments, or initiate disciplinary action against guilty public servants as mentioned at Annexure-5 to Annexure 7, will adhere to the recommendations made by the Commission and provide immediate respite to the victims/next of their kin at the earliest. Commission Meetings During the year under review, the Full Commission took up 198 cases of human rights violations in its 13 sittings. In addition, the two Division Benches considered 595 cases in 33 sittings NHRC Open Hearings on Atrocities against Scheduled Castes During the period under review, the Commission took up 517 cases in its 4 Open Hearings held at Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat - 136 cases (26th -27th April, 2018), Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh 57 cases (25th May, 2018), Bengaluru, Karnataka-184 cases (2nd August, 2018), Kolkata, West Bengal- 140 cases (13th -14th December, 2018) NHRC Camp Sittings The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has been organising in different States in order to expedite disposal of pending complaints and sensitize the State functionaries on the human rights. During the period under review, the Commission held Camp Sittings in Gujarat, Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka and West Bengal. The Commission considered 40 cases in its sittings of Full Commission.
