2.24 The Commission continued giving daily quote for the ‘Thought of the Day’ related with the
human values and rights for display in the reception area of the Manav Adhikar Bhawan through
the website of the Commission.
Some other major activities
NHRC’s Short Film Awards
2.25 The Commission decided to continue with the fourth run of the Short Film Award Scheme – 2018.
The Media & Communication Wing (M&C) awarded the three best short films on human rights
with more value addition. The award carries three prizes of Rs. one lakh, seventy five thousand
and fifty thousand respectively, with a certificate and a specially designed trophy. In 2018, in total
54 entries were received, out of which 50 fulfilled the conditions. A Jury headed by Mr. Justice
P.C. Ghose, Member, NHRC comprising of Mr. Ambuj Sharma, Secretary General, Mr. Surajit Dey,
Registrar (Law), Ms. Chhaya Sharma, DIG and Mr. Jaimini Kumar Srivastava, Dy. Director (M&C), Mr.
Sunit Tandon, Director, IHC and Former DG, IIMC and Mr. Arun Chaddha, National Award Winner
Film Maker & FTII Alumni was constituted. They selected total 3 best films for the awards, which
were: Behind the Bars: By Dr. Ms. Dev Kanya from Shimla, Third Gender: By Mr. Biplab Majumdar
from Maharashtra, and It’s Possible: By Mr. Jayajose Raj CL from Kerala. The jury also recommended
a certificate of ‘Special Mention’ to four films 1. Tritio Chad, 2. No Women’s Land, 3. EI Amasung
Eihak, 4. Nazariya. Additionally, the jury recommended 3 more films, which the Commission
could use for spreading awareness. The three awardees were invited to Delhi to receive awards at
a function organised by the Commission at IIMC, New Delhi.
Silver Jubilee Events
2.26 NHRC Logo design and Tagline/Slogan Writing Competition
The Media & Communication Wing of the Commission organized Silver Jubilee Logo Design,
Tagline/Slogan Writing and Painting competition in connection with the Silver Jubilee
celebration of the Commission to encourage people’s participation in building awareness
about the promotion and protection of human rights. These were organized online through
MyGov.-portal. For Logo designing total 893 entries and around 4237 entries for Slogan/
Tagline were received from people of varied age groups from different parts of the country. The
Selection Committee selected Mr. Bansi Lal Ketki, Mumbai Maharashtra as the winner of NHRC’s
Logo design competition for a prize of Rs. 50,000/- alongwith a certificate. For the Tagline/
Slogan writing competition, the selection committee selected three winners, which were: Mr.
Tabrej Qureshi from Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh for the first prize of Rs. 20,000/- alongwith
a certificate, Mr. Rajat Sebastian from Ernakulum, Kerala, for the second prize of Rs. 15,000/and Ms. Ranjna Goyal from Chandigarh, Punjab, for the third prize of Rs.10,000/- alongwith
certificates. A jury head by. Justice Shri P. C. Ghosh, Member, NHRC decided the winners.
NHRC’s Painting Competition Awards
2.27 The theme of the painting competition was: ‘My idea of human rights and promotion and
protection thereof’. A total of 525 entries were received from different parts of the country. The
