6.3.7 769 tweets on NHRC Twi er handle were issued
from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023 and the total
number of followers reached around 48,000 on 31
March 2023 with an average increase of 1,500
organic followers in a month.
6.3.8 The Commission con nued to explore alterna ve
media pla orms for building awareness about the
importance of promo on and protec on of Human
Rights. As part of this endeavour, in the year 202223, it con nued to maintain dialogue with the
Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) to encourage
them to organise human rights workshops through
their wide network of youth volunteers and officers.
6.4 Publica ons: Under Sec on 12(h) of the PHRA,
the Commission has published literature containing
informa ve material for a cross-sec on of
stakeholders, including students, researchers,
scholars, human rights ac vists, academicians,
trainers, policymakers, and the public at large. The

and the public in general:

6.5 Training and Internship Programmes
6.5.1 The Training Division of NHRC spreads human rights
literacy through training programmes on human
rights issues through collabora on with Administrave Training Ins tutes (ATI), Police Training
Ins tu ons (PTI), Judicial Training Ins tutes,
University and Colleges approved by University
Grants Commission/All India Council for Technical
Educa on (AICTE) and Na onal Assessment and
Accredita on Council (NAAC) accredited, and NGOs
registered on Darpan Portal of NITI Aayog. Apart
from these, a one- month Internship Programme
twice a year, i.e. summer and winter, is organised by
the Commission within its premises for the university/college students of different states of the
country and short-term Internship Programme of
fi een days throughout the year for students
interested in the field of human rights. During the
year 2022-23, the Commission released funds to
various organisa ons and ins tu ons for
conduc ng 52 collabora ve training programmes
rela ng to various aspects of human rights, which
were successfully organised/ conducted by various
ins tu ons, universi es, colleges, PTI, ATI, NGOs all
over India for human rights awareness and were
a ended by approximately 5500 par cipants.
6.5.2 Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Summer
Internship Programme - 2022-23 could not be
organised in the Commission in accordance with
COVID-19 guidelines. However, the Winter Internship Programme (WIP) 2022 - 23 was held in physical
mode from 20 December 2022 to 09 January 2023,
which was a ended by 54 students from various
backgrounds. The NHRC also conducted five (5)
Online Short-Term Internship Programmes for a
dura on of 15 days each in the months of April,
June, August, October 2022 and March 2023 in
which 71, 80, 66, 69 and 71 student interns par cipated respec vely, and, in total, 357 students
successfully completed their Online Short-term
Internship with the Commission. The Commission
