Commission's Major Activities National Human Rights Commission of Korea Annual Report 2016 best practices of European and Asian nations in regard to the eradication of elderly poverty, exemplary policies and best practices of European and Asian nations in regard to promotion of right to health of older persons, and measures for cooperation for the promotion of human rights of older persons. The forum was a venue for expert presentations and active discussions on promoting the human rights of older persons. The participants agreed on the need for the establishment of policies and institutions aimed at promoting Healthy Ageing, Active Ageing and Successful Ageing in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and that such policies and institutions should be based on a human rights perspective, in order to guarantee the dignity of older persons. They also agreed on the need for collaboration among diverse stakeholders including the academia, civil society organizations and private sector, respective countries and international organizations. For this purpose, the participants proposed the establishment of the ASEM Global Ageing Center. The results of the forum were reported to the 11th ASEM Summit meeting held in Mongolia in June 2016.
