2.8 The Sub-Committee on Accreditation (SCA) of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights
Institutions (GANHRI) awarded ‘A’ status accreditation to the National Human Rights Commission
of India in 2017 as acknowledgement of the important work that the Commission has carried
out for the protection of human rights and promotion of human rights awareness within the
country.

National Seminars and Conferences

The Commission held a National Seminar on Elimination of Bonded Labour System on
8th November, 2019 at New Delhi to review the action of States on the implementation of
bonded labour rehabilitation scheme while establishing conceptual clarity about strategy of
identification, release and rehabilitation of bonded labourers. The seminar was inaugurated by
Justice Shri H.L. Dattu, Hon’ble Chairperson, NHRC and Justice Shri P.C. Pant, Hon’ble Member
NHRC. Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Hon’ble Minister of State for Labour and Employment
(Independent Charge), Government of India, was the Chief Guest.

2.10 The Commission had organized a National Level Review Meeting on Mental Health on
7th August, 2019 at India International Centre (IIC), New Delhi. The meeting was organized
with the objective of reviewing the status of mental healthcare service delivery in India with
special reference to implementation of Mental Healthcare Act, 2017 by the States. The meeting
was inaugurated by Justice Shri H.L. Dattu, Hon’ble Chairperson, NHRC and attended by the
senior officials of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare namely, Ms. Preeti Sudan, Secretary,
