Assembly met to elect the president
and vice president, the DPP launched
the 1990 Taiwan Presidential Popular
Election movement, nominating Huang
Hua and Wu Che-lang as "presidential
and vice-presidential candidates",
a symbolic move to highlight the
irony that the actual president was
elected by the National Assembly,
which had never had a full re-election.
