Current status and problems • Art performers (4,721 people; 1,504 or 32% of them are undocumented) make up for the highest percentage of undocumented status among migrant workers. In 2011, the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women expressed concern about human trafficking and sexual exploitation concerning migrant women in Republic of Korea and who hold visas as art performers. They remain unprotected from human rights infringement, including delay in wage payment, passport seizure, violence, frequent change of workplaces, and mental pressure to attract more customers in addition to human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
