has the jurisdiction to urge the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to raise the issue about the violation that occurred, and it also has the jurisdiction to cooperate with the NHRI or another national mechanism in that country in which the violation occurred to consider the case and follow it up effectively. The Institution’s Complaints and Call Center received a request from an individual stating that his son had been arrested in a Gulf country due to financial claims, and a court ruling had been issued against him to imprison him. He was released and banned from traveling. The concerned party requested assistance from the Institution in the matter. Accordingly, the NIHR followed up on the matter with the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Institution in that country, and it is still being processed.15 Oman Human Rights Commission OHRC monitored a case on social media platforms where Omanis travelled to an Asian country and were accused of seeking to marry minor girls. The Omanis were detained in the Asian country. Upon communications with their families, OHRC visited the detainees and ensured that they had legal representation and fair trial. OHRC intervened in a case received from a family of an Omani citizen who had disappeared in Türkiye. OHRC contacted the NHRI in Türkiye to assist the family in contacting the Turkish Government to obtain information on the whereabouts of the Omani citizen.16 Palestine Independent Commission for Human Rights The Independent Commission for Human Rights in Palestine follows up on complaints and cases concerning Palestinians abroad, often by communicating with the NHRI in the relevant country. For example, the Commission addressed the Turkish NHRI regarding the death of a Palestinian inmate in a Turkish prison, requesting an investigation into the circumstances of his death. Additionally, the Commission coordinated with the New Zealand NHRI to follow up on the case of a Palestinian citizen convicted in New Zealand and facilitate arrangements for his return to Palestine. Furthermore, the Commission received communications from the NHRIs in Nepal and Russia, requesting its intervention with Hamas to secure the release of captives of their respective nationalities held by the group.
