Recommendation 5: Develop specific NHRIs policy guidelines for addressing
climate change-related human rights issues, including gender and marginalised
community considerations in climate disaster response (High priority; Short-term).
Recommendation 6: Include climate change and human rights strategies and
actions in the NHRI Strategic Plan and Action Plan, which are aligned with the
national context (Medium priority; Medium-term).
} Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
Recommendation 7: Establish immediate consultation processes with EHRDs,
CSOs, and local communities to incorporate their inputs into NHRIs climate
monitoring and advocacy work (High priority; Short-term).
Recommendation 8: Develop long-term partnerships with private sector entities,
particularly those in extractive and tourism industries, to promote human rights
due diligence in climate change mitigation and adaptation practices (Medium
priority; Long-term).
} Coordination with International Mechanisms
Recommendation 9: Strengthen NHRIs participation in international climate
forums, such as COP meetings, and establish formal coordination mechanisms
with global environmental bodies (High priority; Short-term).
Recommendation 10: Build a long-term strategy for NHRIs reporting to
international bodies, like the UNFCCC, on the human rights implications of national
climate actions (Medium priority, Long-term).
