Freedom
People with disability have the right to
freedom.
This is called the right to liberty and security.
It means people can only be detained or held
if there is a good reason.
People with disability in Australia can have
their freedom taken away in the criminal
justice and mental health systems.
Sometimes people with are held in prison
even though they are not guilty of a crime.
We recommend
Australia change the laws so this does
not happen.
