International 2.18 A two-day Workshop on Detention was organized by the Commission in collaboration with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in New Delhi on 11-12 October 2008. INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES Meeting of the International Coordinating Committee of National Institutions 2.19 The Commission participated in the 20th Session of the International Coordinating Committee of National Institutions for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (ICC) held in Geneva from 14 to 18 April 2008. Ninth International Conference of National Institutions 2.20 A high-level delegation from NHRC of India, headed by the Chairperson, participated in the Ninth International Conference of National Institutions for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights in Nairobi, Kenya from 21-24 October 2008. The theme of the Conference was ‘NHRIs and the Administration of Justice’, with a focus on expanding NHRIs’ capacity in ensuring accountability in the administration of justice. The Conference was organized by Kenya National Commission on Human Rights in cooperation with OHCHR and the ICC. 22nd Session of the ICC 2.21 The 22nd Session of the ICC was held in Geneva from 23 to 27 March 2009. A threemember delegation from the NHRC of India, comprising the Chairperson, Secretary General and Director (Research) participated in it. Universal Periodic Review 2.22 On 10 June 2008, a statement was made on behalf of the NHRC of India by its Joint Secretary at the 8th Plenary Session of the Human Rights Council concerning the adoption of the final outcome relating to India with regard to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR). Annual Meeting of the Asia Pacific Forum of NHRIs 2.23 A high-level delegation from NHRC-India participated in the 13th Annual Meeting of the Asia Pacific Forum of NHRIs held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 28-31 July 2008. Commonwealth Forum Meeting 2.24 The Chairperson of the Commission participated in the Commonwealth Forum Meeting held in Nairobi, Kenya on 20 October 2008. 17
