21 Figure 12: Worker Participation in OSH Monitoring and Development The lack of consultation is demonstrated by the fact that only 25% of the respondents know that they have a colleague sitting in their company's Occupational Safety and Health Committee. Unsurprisingly, participants' familiarity with the committee's selection criteria is mixed. The answers ranged from track record and length of service to management appointees or the lack of knowledge regarding the process. More than half (57.1% ) also stated that they had not experienced any labor or OSH inspection in their workplace. For those whose workplaces had been inspected, respondents answered that labor inspectors checked the work environment, equipment, whether work procedures were accurate or safe, and other considerations. Regarding the frequency of inspections, many respondents answered that these happened regularly (bi-monthly, quarterly, yearly, etc.). However, one respondent claimed that employees in their company were hidden from labor inspectors that visited their workplace. Figure 13: Labor or OSH Workplace Inspection
