Report on the Assessment of the Compliance of the Correction and Rehabilitation Centers in Palestine with International Prison Standards medical specialist. • The necessity to provide psychological care through specialists who visit the CRC for adequate time specially in light of the overcrowding of the CRCs. • The need to provide a medical isolation room in the CRCs. • The need to establish a medical laboratory in the CRCs. • The necessity to provide adequate cadre of doctors and nurses to work round the clock • The need to follow up the medical procedures on inmates and request of a detailed medical report before bringing them back to the CRC in case they were referred to a medical center outside the CRC. Detention conditions: • The necessity to set a policy to separate the unsentenced inmates from the sentenced ones. • The necessity to address the issue of the severe overcrowding of some CRCs. Infrastructure of inmates’ rooms accommodation and facilities: • The need to allocate a single bed with clean bed furnishings for each inmate, whereas some of the inmates have to sleep on the floor. • the need to provide a uniform for the inmates in the CRCs. • the need to provide a recreational space for adequate movement and sun and air exposure. • the need to distribute the inmates on the CRC blocks according to their ability to coexist. • the need to provide wide windows that allow natural light that enable the inmates to read and allow clean air to the room and regenerate it daily.
