As peer the HRCM M Act Articlee 20 (a)(b) and a 21 (e)(f) , the HRCM M has looked d into the hu uman rightss violations that t took place during and a after thee arrest of the demonsttrators who were taken n into custod dy in the pro otests in Male’ and Addu u City on Feb bruary 8, 2012. A fact fin nding team m from HRCM M visited Ad ddu City on n February 10, 1 2012 to o investigatee allegationss and comp plaints lodge ed at HRCM. Following are the findin ngs of this in nvestigation.. a) Seven nteen peoplee were treatted in Feydh hoo Health Centre C with various leveels of injurie es in the unrrest that too ok place in Addu A City on n 8th Februaary 2012. Am mong them were a persson with a broken b leg and a a person n with a ½ in nch lesion to o the head. b) Amon ng those who claimed to o have been n subject to Police brutaality while under u Police e custody, 10 0 of them had h visible marks, m woun nds, gashes and a cuts. One of them also had a burn b mark th hat resembleed a cigarettte burn on his foot. c) Even though, t eacch prison celll in Gan Police Station are built to accommodate 2 people, there were 5 to 6 people placed in a cell, leadingg to suffoccating condittions and craamming.
