Right to Sexual and Reproductive Health Education 2016 For the purpose of updating this study, the research team did an extensive study of all the text books that are allocated to the students in the new syllabus. The new syllabus introduces students to three news subjects; Health and Physical Education, Science and Social Studies which spans through all the Grades, beginning from 1 to 6. In each of these subjects, the units are divided in a manner that introduces a certain topic to the students in Grade 1 and is continued throughout the years giving more detailed information as they progress to higher grades. Subject: Health and Physical Education Key Stage 1 The subject Health and Physical Education commences with the Chapter ‘Health and Body Awareness’, and introduces students in Grade One to the topic 'A new baby', which highlights on the changes that take place in a house and the roles each family member takes upon the arrival of a new family member. Even though the information is indirect and does not explain how a baby is made, it is a pleasant introduction which will pave way for children to think and raise questions about the topic. Under the same chapter the topic ‘Changing with Years’ introduces Grade 1 students to the basic physical and personal changes that a person goes through as they age. Chapter 2 Has a lesson on ‘Keeping Safe’, which introduces students to basic information about what good and bad touch is, how to identify them and highlights the people they can trust.
