HUMAN RIGHTS MODULE FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL Implementation steps 1. The teacher writes several questions on a piece of paper: i. Why must you come to school? ii. What are your responsibilities as a student? iii. Is education important? Why? iv. Do you enjoy playing besides studying in class? v. What is your favourite food? vi. If you were a person with a disability (PWD), do you have the right to an education? vii. In your opinion, what facilities are needed in the school to ensure that children with disability have access to education? viii. If you have any friends with problems, do you help them? ix. State the various types of bullying. x. What steps can you take if you witness any acts of bullying? xi. Does this activity provide you with an opportunity to express yourself? xii. What are the dangers of smoking in relation to the right to health? 2. The teacher can come up with other questions and can refer to the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). 3. All clippings of the questions are then folded and dropped into the box. 4. The students form a large circle. Music is played and the box is passed from one student to another. 5. When the music stops, the student left holding the box must choose a question randomly from the box. 6. The student will read and answer the question chosen. If the student is unable to answer the question, then the teacher will give the opportunity to another student to answer it. The game continues until all the questions have been answered. Discussion/Presentation 7. At the end of the activity, the teacher gives the students the opportunity to selfreflect on the activity they carried out. 8. The teacher may use the questions below as a guide: i. Did you like this game? ii. What were your feelings when you could answer the question? iii. What were your feelings if your friend helped you when you could not answer the question? 88
