HUMAN RIGHTS MODULE FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL
Implementation steps
1. Divide the class into groups of 4 to 5. Each group must have members who have
different personalities so as to ensure diversity.
2. Each group will be supplied with one balloon.
3. All the group members must bring the balloon together from the starting point (point
A) to the finishing point (point B). However, each member of the group may only use
one hand, and only two fingers of that hand to hold the balloon.
4. None of the members may release the balloon during the process of transporting it
from point A to point B.
5. The teacher can place desks, chairs, cones, etc. as obstacles along the route from
point A to point B. The groups must make their way through the obstacles without
releasing their balloons.
6. The teacher can be innovative in creating obstacles. However, he/she must ensure
that the obstacles do not hurt the students.
7. The group that arrives first at point B with the balloon still in good condition is the
winner.
Discussion/Presentation
8. At the end of the activity, give the students the opportunity to self-reflect on the
activity that they carried out.
9. Their reflection can be focused on the different reactions shown by the students
throughout the activity. The teacher must remind the students that regardless of the
reactions observed, all human beings are equal.
Conclusion
10. The teacher concludes the day’s lesson by stressing the rights of the child as well as
