We need to learn more about practices that amount to torture and ill-treatment… Especially practices relevant to our profession! I would be interested in trainings or seminars on CAT… A physician or any other healthcare providers would need greater awareness on how their role can prevent, rather than lead to torture and ill-treatment. The Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CAT) was adopted on 26 of June 1984. As of 2015, 158 countries have ratified the Convention. Article 10 of the Convention obliges State Parties to conduct trainings, raise awareness and disseminate information on CAT to relevant professionals.
