Other Activities on Protecting rights of PWDs. On 03 December 2021 the country celebrated 30th International and 23rd National Day of Persons with Disabilities on 04 December 2021, a discussion was held organized by the thematic committee of PWDs. NHRCB Chairman Nasima Begum, ndc presided over the meeting. Besides, an online meeting on the occasion of world white cane day was organized on 14th October 2021. In that meeting following decisions were made• Recommendations were sent to IGP to include information related to the PWDs in all training activities of Bangladesh Police. • Recommendation sent to Bangladesh Road Transport Authority to include the importance of white cane and its usage in the training activities of drivers and preserving 05 seats for PWDs. • Replacing the word Persons Physical Disabilities to Persons 80 Disabilities in all the job circulars as there are 12 types of disabilities mentioned in the PDWs Rights and Protection Act 2013. Letter was sent to the Ministry of Social Welfare in this regard. • A codified Policy on scriber has been prepared and the draft has been sent to the Ministry of Public Administration, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Social Welfare. • MOU has been signed between NHRC and Brac on accessibility of PWDs in public places, public transports and information. Survey under this MOU has been conducted in a number of hospitals including Dhaka Medical College and BSMMU Hospitals. Recommendations will be sent to concerned authorities as per the reports of these survey.
