Our governance
The governance structure of the APF consists of two bodies, the Governance Committee (GC)
and the Forum Councillors (FC).
The APF secretariat reports to the Governance Committee, Forum Council and General
Assembly through the APF Chairperson. There are currently nine staff in the secretariat and two
part-time staff in the West Asia sub-regional office in Doha, Qatar who are employed by the NHRI
of Qatar.

The Forum Council is made up of senior representatives
from the APF’s full members. Each full member (or ‘A
status’ member) nominates one voting councillor to
participate on the Forum Council.
Forum Councillors can establish ‘committees of
councillors’ to administer different aspects of the APF’s
operations.
The Chairperson of the Governance Committee
automatically serves as APF Chairperson for the twoyear period. Likewise, the Deputy Chairperson of the
Governance Committee automatically serves as APF
Deputy Chairperson.
As far as possible, membership of the APF Governance
Committee aims to reflect our regional diversity and
promote gender equality.
