The Sabah Social Welfare Department has offered protection and care services for older persons including the full time care in the Old Folk Home (Rumah Warga Tua) and daily care in the Senior Citizen Activity Centre (Pusat Aktiviti Warga Emas) as below: 10. In addition, financial aid is available for older persons who are without income or, whose children could not afford to support them. The financial aid is only valid for 12 months, after which an application for continuation of the aid must be made to the Sabah Social Welfare Department. This mechanism was introduced to ensure that the aid is received by deserving older persons. The payment is paid into the bank account of the eligible older persons on the 28th day of each month.
