The 1Malaysia Family Care (1MFC) programme launched by the Prime Minister on 8 March 2013 to provide medical treatment and social services to senior citizens, single mothers and disability groups nationwide with the involvement of volunteers.39 It is an integrated action by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development and the Ministry of Health under the National Blue Ocean Strategy to deliver services with minimal expenses compared to separate implementation of the programme by the respective ministries. f. 40 National Budget for 2013 35. In the National Budget for 2013,41 the government announced the following allocation and incentives related to older persons: i. ii. iii. iv. An increase in the minimum pension from RM720 to RM820 for pensioners who have served the government for at least 25 years. The adjustment was effective from 1 January 2012. The reduction of the processing fee for a 5-year passport by 50% from RM300 to RM150 and for a 2-year passport from RM100 to RM80 for senior citizens. RM1.2 billion under the 1Malaysia Welfare Programme (KAR1SMA) for low income group including senior citizens, children and disabled workers and chronic illnesses. The establishment of additional centres for senior citizens, street children and those who need temporary shelter prior to securing a job or permanent accommodation. 36. In the National Budget for 2014, the Government announced that an additional 23 senior citizen activity centres would be built in 2014.
