THE GEHWRC ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT were conducted by CHR offices such as seminars, orientations, distribution of IEC materials, and hanging of campaign banners, among others. GENDER-RELATED PUBLICATIONS AND IEC MATERIALS The Commission released the Gender Ombud Guidelines in November 2016. The Guidelines operationalizes the role of the Commission as Gender Ombud. In the same month, the CHR also launched the CHR National Inquiry Report on RH, along with its complementary IEC materials. The CHR through the GEWHRC and its Regional Offices also issued advisories, position papers and issuances on various matters on involving gender-based discrimination and women’s human rights issues. (See table in Chapter IV for details) PARTICIPATION IN OTHER EVENTS CONSULTATION TO STRENGTHEN NHRIS’ ENGAGEMENT AND PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT WITH LGBTI CSO ON SOGIE On 04-05 February 2016, a consultation to strengthen NHRIs engagement and partnership development with LGBTI CSO on SOGIE was held at the Cocoon Hotel in Metro Manila. This was supported by the UNDP and Being LGBTI in Asia. It was attended by CHR personnel from the Central and Regional Offices, and various LGBTI CSOs. 51 Kalayaan Hall. NATIONAL CONSULTATION ON SOGIEBASED BULLYING IN THE PHILIPPINE EDUCATION SETTING On 23-24 August 2016, the GEWHRC attended the National Consultation on SOGIE-based bullying in the Philippine Education Setting. The consultation was also attended by LGBTI groups, the academe, and representatives from DepEd field offices. CHR AT RADIO VERITAS Commissioner Gwendolyn Pimentel-Gana guested the GEWHRC on her segment at Radio Veritas on 08 October 2016. The topics discussed during the episode included the CHR Mandate, the role of a Gender Ombud, EJK, campaign against drugs, detention centers, sex videos and VAW. PARTICIPATION IN SENATE COMMITTEE HEARINGS AND HOUSE COMMITTEE HEARINGS On 31 August 2016, the CHR together with the CSOs attended the first hearing on Senate Bill on the anti-discrimination on the basis of SOGIE. The CHR, through the GEWHRC, expressed support for the passage of the bill highlighting the commitments of CHR as an NHRI, and as member of the Asia Pacific Forum on Human Rights, to protect and promote the rights of persons with diverse SOGIE. WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION In expressing the urgency of the passage of the bill, the CHR shared some of the cases it was handling to show the many forms of discrimination suffered by persons with diverse SOGIE, and the need for a law to protect LGBTIs from different forms of discrimination. On 09 March 2016, GEWHRC attended the Celebration of Women’s Day at the Malacanang’s Aside from the Senate hearing, the GEWHRC also attended the Committee on Women and Gender
