The presentation was followed by a panel
discussion of Christian and Islamic views on equality
and non-discrimination. The CHR also presented
a perspective on equality and non-discrimination
following the human rights framework.
Since 2005, May 17th has been dedicated
to the celebreation of IDAHOT. It is the
commemoration of the World Health Organization’s
removal of homosexuality from its list of mental
disorders.
CELEBRATORY EVENTS
The CHR supported the celebration of the
IDAHOT 2016 through the following activities:
WOMEN’S MONTH CELEBRATION
The CHR in partnership with SARILAYA
kicked off women’s month with “Purple Action
Day”. The program included a morning motorcade
around the Quezon City Circle to the CHR; a forum
on the Women’s Month theme, “Kapakanan ni
Juana, Isama sa Agenda”; the CHR’s launch of the
National Inquiry on Reproductive Health Report,
and Sarilaya’s campaign for the Zero Hunger Bill;
and a wellness program which included free haircuts,
pedicure, manicure, and massage for women. Two
photobooths were also set-up with the themes; “He
for She” and “Agenda ni Juana Isama sa Agenda and
the CHR Reproductive Health Rights Inquiry”.
Among the guest speakers in the forum
were Quezon City Vice Mayor Ma. Josefina “Joy” G.
Belmonte, CHR Chairperson Jose Luis Martin C.
Gascon and Commissioner Karen S. Gomez Dumpit,
PCW Executive Director Emmeline Verzosa,

The CHR also sent 15 participants to the
public Women’s Month event entitled, “SamaSamang Pagsulong sa mga Agenda ni Juana,” held
on 27 March 2016 at Burnham Green in front of

• Wearing colors of the rainbow which represent
diversity and has been adopted by the LGBTI
community to represent the diversity.
• Conduct of trainings, study sessions, and
informal discussions on IDAHOT, SOGIE and
the rights of LGBTI; and
• Posting and distribution of relevant IEC
materials.
LGBTI PRIDE MARCH
On 25 June 2016, the CHR joined the LGBTI
Pride Festival entitled,“Let Love In: Kahit Kanino,
Kahit Kailan” at the Lapu-Lapu Monument, Luneta
Park. Twenty-two (22) CHR employees and four
interns joined the pride march. The activity called for
solidarity in the pursuit of LGBTI rights.
18-DAY CAMPAIGN TO END VIOLENCE
AGAINST WOMEN (VAW)
The theme of the 18-Day Campaign to End
Violence Against Women (VAW) was, “VAW-free
community starts with me”.
On 25 November 2016, 23 CHR Central
Office employees attended the kick-off event at the
PICC Reception Hall, to show the Commission’s
commitment and support in promoting a VAWfree Philippines. In the regions, various activities
