FROM BONDAGE TO FREEDOM 97 Extradition or Prosecution The Convention declares that the offences referred in the convention be regarded as extraditable offences in any extradition treaty which has been or may be concluded between any of the Parties to the Convention. If a State Party, which makes extradition conditional on the existence of a treaty, receives a request for extradition from another State Party with which it has no extradition treaty, the requested State shall, if permitted by its domestic laws, consider this Convention as the basis for extradition in respect of offences set forth in Article III250. The extradition be granted in accordance with the laws of the State to which request is made and States where extradition of their nationals is not permitted under their laws have to initiate judicial proceedings for the prosecution and punishment of the offenders251. Preventive Measures The preventive measures include: 1. Provision of sufficient means, training and assistance to authorities to enable them to effectively conduct inquiries, investigations and prosecution of offences. 2. Sensitization of law enforcement agencies and the judiciary in tackling trafficking cases. 3. Establishment of a Regional Task Force to facilitate implementation of the provisions of this Convention and to undertake periodic reviews. 4. Provision for mutual agreements and bilateral mechanisms to effectively implement the provisions of the Convention. 5. Regular exchange of information in respect of agencies, institutions and individuals who are involved in trafficking. 6.
