The Commission was very pleased that YB Senator Datuk Paul Low Seng
Kuan, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, agreed to deliver a speech
at the closing plenary of the forum alongside the UN High Commissioner
for Human Rights and other eminent personalities, during which he had
announced the Malaysian government’s decision to develop a national
action plan on business and human rights for Malaysia. The Commission

The Commission attended the 6th UN Forum on Business and Human Rights,
which was held at the UN Office in Geneva on 27-29 November. The central
theme for the forum was ‘Realizing Access to Effective Remedy’. At the
invitation of UNDP, Commissioner Prof. Dato’ Dr. Aishah Bidin participated as
a panelist in one of the sessions of the forum entitled ‘Moving Forward with
the National Action Plans on Business and Human Rights and Implementing
Pillar 3 in Southeast Asia’. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Aishah Bidin also accepted the
invitation by the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights to become
a speaker for the ‘Consultation on the Gender Lens to the UNGPs’, which
was held in the margins of the forum.
