28 Ombudsman (Komesina o Sulufaiga) Act 2013 67. Regulations – (1) The Head of State, acting on the advice of Cabinet, may make regulations to give effect to or for the purposes of this Act, and in particular to amend Schedule 1 or 2. (2) Regulations are to be laid before the Legislative Assembly. 68. Repeals, savings and transitional – (1) The Komesina o Sulufaiga (Ombudsman) Act 1988 is repealed. (2) At the commencement of this Act: (a) the current Ombudsman continues in office under this Act for a term of 6 years from the commencement of this Act unless he resigns or is removed from office pursuant to this Act before the expiry of 6 years; (b) the current staff of the Ombudsman continue as if they were appointed under this Act as staff of the Office, subject to their current terms of employment; (c) any pending complaint or investigation continues as if it were made under this Act; (d) any property of the Government under the control or possession of the Ombudsman continues to be under the control or possession of the Ombudsman, subject to any agreement between the Government and the Ombudsman as to the ownership and transfer of the property. (3) Regulations may be made under section 67 within 2 years of commencement of this Act to deal with any other transitional or saving matter.
