area indicates a need for further development to enhance collaborative efforts at the
community level.
Overall, common thematic issues across these six countries include the recognition of
the need for coordinated approaches and the importance of collaboration to address the
multifaceted challenges posed by climate change. Each NHRI’s commitment to enhancing
partnerships and fostering engagement underscores the necessity of integrating human
rights considerations into climate action. While there are varying degrees of progress and
collaboration among the NHRIs, the collective experiences highlight a pressing need for
strengthened partnerships. Building effective networks at local, national, and international
levels will be crucial for successfully addressing the human rights dimensions of climate
change and ensuring that vulnerable populations are adequately protected and empowered
in the face of climate challenges.
G. Coordinated Approaches and Collaboration
The survey data and interviews unequivocally indicate the need for all six NHRIs to further
develop their knowledge and capacity in the area of human rights dimensions of CCMA
initiatives, especially in the area of human mobility (Figure 24). The examination of capacity
gaps and future needs across the targeted NHRIs reveals a common recognition of the
challenges posed by climate change and its implications for human rights. Each NHRI faces
distinct yet interconnected barriers that hinder their ability to effectively engage in CCMA.
Addressing these gaps is essential for strengthening their contributions to climate action and
safeguarding human rights in vulnerable populations.
