D. RECOMMENDATIONS
During the consultations on CEDAW and MCW, a few recommendations emerged:
Recommended interventions on VAW:
Training and information dissemination on VAW - There should be continuous
education regarding violence against women and children.
-
Authorities and local government officials particularly those designated to
handle violence against women cases should be trained, and they should also
be in the frontline to monitor proper implementation of Anti-VAWC law. (CAR)
-
Budget should be allocated for information dissemination and proper
coordination and implementation among government agencies down to
barangay level. Concerned agencies and instrumentalities should oversee the
implementation of GAD funding. (CAR)
-
Monitoring is a must and there should be strong lobbying for survivors and
against violators. Citizens in all communities should advocate for the
promotion against violence and protection for victim-survivors. (CAR)
Strengthened support services for victim-survivors of VAW. There is a need
to address the absence of/or inadequacy of support services for women victimssurvivors of VAW. This include not only the provision of legal, shelter,
psychosocial support, but also livelihood and financial. Many VAW cases do not
prosper for lack of financial, transportation support. (Region 10)
Monitoring of LGU compliance with the law. There should be a VAW desk in
every Barangay (CAR), and monitoring of the functionality of the VAW desks
should be undertaken (Region 6). In view of the reported absence, lack of services
like shelter, psychosocial and other services, monitoring of the availability,
accessibility and functionality of these services, especially for the marginalized,
should be undertaken.
