Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions Rights Commission of Mongolia, explains the circumstances in which LGBT people should refer to the Commission and also provides guidance in relation to the processes, procedures and provisions of the law. A further brochure, Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people: Common prejudice and reality, was also produced to promote respect for human diversity and SOGI and has been used in future Commission training programs. The Commission also collected data on human rights violations occurring to LGBT people, in order to establish a database of violations, for the development of further policy analysis. New Zealand Human Rights Commission The 2nd AsiaPacific Outgames Human Rights Conference was held in Wellington, New Zealand. Six APF member institutions attended and participated in the conference to further promote the Yogyakarta Principles, along with the work of NHRIs and civil society groups. The event allowed participating NHRIs to discuss their activities and to share their experiences. The SOGI activities therefore, achieved the following goals and objectives: • recognise that persons of diverse SOGI are vulnerable to human rights violations • ensure that persons of diverse SOGI are included in the human rights work of NHRIs • disseminate and promote the Yogyakarta Principles, especially to those whose rights they affirm, including in local languages • provide forums and other mechanisms through which NHRIs can consult and collaborate with persons of diverse SOGI in the work of promotion and protection of human rights, and • ensure that the complaints mechanisms are accessible to those who suffer human rights violations on the basis of their actual or perceived SOGI.
