Governance Mechanism
Governance Mechanism Members of the Commission and the thema�c commi�ees
convene regularly and are responsible for se�ng the strategic direc�on of the Commission
and ensuring the delivery of Strategic Plans. The Commission is also responsible for ensuring
the effec�ve and efficient use of Commission resources in delivering the Strategic Plan.
The Commission is supported internally in its func�on by finance and audit-related
ac�vi�es. The Commission is intended to review performance against strategic and
opera�onal plans and receives assurances on the use of resources, financial performance,
and business risk. Strategic Objec�ves-Collabora�ve The NHRC will collaborate with other
stakeholders to promote and protect human rights in Bangladesh.

Collabora�on with Government Agencies and State Ins�tu�ons NHRC will establish
and maintain rela�onships with government func�onaries at the na�onal level
(i.e., Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Social Welfare, Ministry of Women and
Children Affairs), and both rural and urban local government bodies to make the
strategic objec�ves well-adver�sed and effec�ve.
Collabora�on with the Academic Ins�tu�ons The NHRC will collaborate with law
schools to establish ‘Law Clinic’ to promote public interest law programmes
involving human rights educa�on among faculty members and students as a part
of their academic curriculum. Collabora�on with Civil Society
Organiza�ons (CSOs) and ci�zens groups/pla�orms and media The NHRC will
establish collabora�on with the civil society organiza�ons (CSOs) and
groups/pla�orms and media and take ini�a�ves to make human rights educa�on
and awareness programmes more accessible, effec�ve, and commensurate with
the needs of the target groups and wider dissemina�on. Areas of such coopera�on
and collabora�on will be iden�fied through adequate research, mee�ngs, and
exchanging views.
Collabora�on with Interna�onal Bodies The NHRC will Con�nue to share and
exchange ideas with interna�onally recognized legal aid providers and/or
ins�tu�ons and incorporate new ideas as appropriate into the legal aid system of
Bangladesh to make it comprehensive and dynamic.
