Highlights of activities of NHRCB in 2018
4.1 NHRC Promotes Inclusiveness
The
National
Human
Rights
Commission, Bangladesh has recruited
a Hijra (transgender) person and two
persons with disabilities. NHRC
Chairman Kazi Reazul Hoque said,
“As part of NHRC’s commitment to
promote and protect human rights, this
step is taken. We are proud that a
visually impaired person works with us
as Assistant Director. And now we
have recruited 03 more persons from
the disadvantaged section. We believe,
our initiative will encourage other
institutions including both government
and non-government to promote the
rights of the vulnerable population.”
One of the new employees Tanisha Yasmin Choiti has completed Bachelor from National
University of Bangladesh and got the job of Front Desk Executive in NHRC. She said, “I feel
honored to be a part of National Human Rights Commission. I believe, as a representative from
Hijra community, I am the first person who has got job at such a prestigious institution like NHRC.
I am really grateful to hon’ble Chairman of NHRC to give me this opportunity.”
Another new employee Rounok Jahan Usha is a physically challenged person who has completed
her graduation from Eden College of Dhaka despite all challenges. She is working as the Call Center
Executive. She said, “I cannot express in words how happy I am! I dreamt to work at the National
Human Rights Commission and now my dream has come true!”
Most. Mita Khatun is also a physically challenged person and also completed her Masters from
Kushtia government college. She is also working as the Call Center Executive. She said, “I have
tried hard to get a job but could not find it. I got frustrated but now I feel very honored to get job in
National Human Rights Commission. I believe, I have got an opportunity to work for the
disadvantaged section of my country. I express my gratitude to the hon’ble Chairman and the
Commission.”
4.2 NHRCB Launches Helpline 16108
This year NHRCB opens its Helpline 16108. People from all over the country can call to have
suggestions or lodge complaints through this number. The helpline operates in working hours and
