Part 3 | Key Activities Committee, provided support for public hearings held by the Subcommittee on Legislation and Judiciary 1, and delivered statements in the Legislative and Judiciary Committee of the National Assembly. Moreover, to facilitate legislative progress through international cooperation, the Commission held meetings with foreign embassies, such as those of the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and representatives from the OHCHR and the European Union based in Korea. The Commission also led the production of a statement of support for the equality bill from the UN Refugee Agency. Meanwhile, the Commission also promoted public discourse and facilitated discussions on the subject. It strengthened collaboration with human rights organizations through meetings with the Coalition for Anti-Discrimination Legislation and support for promotional booths at the Seoul Queer Festival. Working with the Christian community, the Commission also produced and distributed fact-check leaflets on the Equality Bill to raise awareness. Moving forward, the Commission will continue to support the legislation of the Equality Act, which will serve as a yardstick to assess the level of national dignity and human rights standards in South Korea.
