We supported NHRI leadership We support NHRI leaders to increase the organisational and leadership capacity of NHRIs, through our High-Level Dialogues, virtual introductory sessions and Leadership Solidarity Outreach calls. In 2021-22 we convened virtual High-Level Dialogues with the NHRIs of Thailand, the Maldives, and Taiwan to discuss each institution’s priorities and identify potential areas of support. We also held introductory sessions with the NHRIs of Mongolia and Turkmenistan (a prospective member) to provide information on the APF’s role, advisory support and services. Our Leadership Solidarity Outreach service was developed during COVID to strengthen institutional and interpersonal relationships while travel between countries was either not possible or was highly restrictive. During 2021-22, we held outreach calls to support senior leaders from the NHRIs of Bahrain, Fiji, Maldives, Myanmar, Pakistan, South Korea and Sri Lanka. We provided opportunities for NHRI collaboration through the APF Virtual Dialogue Series APF Virtual Dialogues bring together NHRIs from across the Asia Pacific to share how they work to promote and protect human rights in the era of COVID and to discuss opportunities for collaboration. Each dialogue focuses on a specific theme, and includes a range of presentations from NHRIs, as well as an open dialogue between participants, enabling the exchange of information, good practices, achievements, and challenges in relation to the human rights work of NHRIs. During 2021-22, we co-hosted dialogues on: • The Monitoring of Detention Centres during COVID (in partnership with the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia) • The Advancement of Vulnerable Groups During COVID and the role of NHRIs (in partnership with the National Human Rights Commission of Korea) • NHRIs and the rights of people with disabilities (in partnership with the National Human Rights Commission of India) Follow the APF Virtual Dialogue Series on social media: #APFDialogueSeries 14 APF Annual Report 2021-2022
