Table 8: Visits by Local & Foreign Delegations DETAILS OF VISIT The Commission received a delegation from OrphanCARE Foundation to discuss potential ways in which both organisations could work together for the advancement of women and children in Malaysia. 22 March The Commission welcomed a visit by Ms Anjulie Schut from DEAL Foundation. The visit was to discuss the Commission’s work in relation to the rights of single mothers in Malaysia as well as the project undertaken by DEAL Foundation in this area. 24 March The Commission received a delegation from the Malaysian Law Students Union in the United Kingdom and Eire (KPUM) and law students from local universities, who came for a study visit. The main purpose was to better understand the functions and work of the Commission in promoting and protecting human rights in Malaysia. 29 June The Commission welcomed a visit by representatives from Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M). The objective of this visit was to discuss potential spheres of collaboration between SUHAKAM and TI-M, especially in the area of integrity. 8 August The Commission received a delegation from Bar Council Malaysia to discuss several human rights issues including freedom of assembly, memorandum on death camps, migrants, refugees and stateless persons, human trafficking, campaign on the abolition of the death penalty, as well as custodial deaths. 10 September The Commission welcomed a visit by Ms Marianne Clark-Hattingh, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Representative to Malaysia. The objective of the meeting was to discuss potential areas of collaboration between the two organisations in promoting and protecting the rights of children in Malaysia. 21 September The Commission received a delegation from the EAIC. The objective of this meeting was to exchange views on the work of both Commissions.
