NHRC Documentary
2.30 The Media & Communication wing got produced a documentary on National Human Rights
Commission “NHRC: 25 years-Billion Hopes” through the Films Division, Ministry of Information
& Broadcasting, Government of India. The Commission also entrusted the making of a short
Film on women’s rights issues to the Films Division.
The DD (M&C) also prepared bilingual short films ‘Epilogue to the Silver Jubilee of NHRC’ on
NHRC which were screened at the venue of NHRC Foundation Day Function at Vigyan Bhawan
Plenary Hall on the 12 October, 2018.
Common Service Centre (CSCs)
2.31 The ‘MyGov’ and Common Service Centres (CSCs) are digital platforms of the government, which
host services as well as information about them to citizens in rural and remote areas of the
country and are open for collaborative efforts between different organizations/departments
in this regard. Hence, the Commission decided to seek their cooperation in order to raise
awareness about human rights and the silver Jubilee celebrations of the NHRC. Three online
contests, as mentioned earlier, were organized through MyGov portal.
2.32 Accordingly, the CSC while making a presentation before the Commission proposed
cooperation on four counts including building awareness on human rights, violation thereof
and redressal mechanism, films/animation on some major issues/themes of human rights
violations, complaint filing procedure by post, e-mail, fax as well as online and NHRC mobile
application for complaints. The technical lies of linking the NHRC online complaint system with
the CSC portal and its operation was to be monitored and looked into by the Computer Cell
under the SSA, NHRC, the online complaint proforma had to be suitably updated by the SSA
in consultation with the JR (Law), NHRC and the third component about information related
material particularly the shorts films was to be look into by the DD (M&C) in coordination with
the Law Division and creative team of CSC. Accordingly, the CSC made 08 short films on the
following issues/themes of human rights: 1. Bonded Labour; 2. Manual Scavenging; 3. SC/ST;
4.Human Trafficking; 5. Women Rights; 6. Child Labour; 7. Old Age and 8. One composite film
on ‘when and how to file complaints in NHRC’.
Children’s painting and photo exhibition
2.33 A children’s painting and photo exhibition about NHRC’s activities was also organized on the
occasion of Human Rights Day, 2018. The exhibition also included posters of award winning films
and archival collage, which was opened by the Chief Guest, Mr. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Hon’ble
Minister of Minority Affairs, India at the venue of the function at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

2.34 A collage of year wise news clippings and photographs on the activities of the Commission is being
prepared in-house by the M&C Wing and got released by the Chief Guest on Human Rights Day
function. This practice began in 2014 and the concept was followed up in subsequent years-2015,
