Demographic profile
The children’s survey received 4,559 responses
from children aged 9–17. This survey asked
demographic questions about their gender, age,
location, cultural background and diversity.
The parents/guardians and grandparent’s
survey received 2,796 responses from parents/
guardians and grandparents with children
between the ages of 9–17. Of these responses,
over one third (n=884) completed questions
about one of their children on their child’s
behalf.
The survey asked questions about parents/
guardians and grandparents’ age, parenting
role, location, cultural background and diversity.
Disaggregated respondent demographics for
both surveys are provided in Appendix 2 of the
report.
3.1 Gender
46% of child respondents identified as girls, 38% as boys and 3% as non-binary or other.
The majority (85%) of respondents to the parent/guardian and grandparent survey identified as
women.
