We engage in advocacy, forge strategic partnerships, and foster collaboration among NHRIs and key stakeholders to safeguard the rights of HRDs, and to support the work of NHRIs as HRDs themselves. Building capacity for HRDs protection In partnership with the Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR), we launched the Right to Defend Rights tool to monitor and report on the situation of HRDs across the Asia Pacific. Originally created by DIHR, the tool was adapted for use by APF members to gather data on the protection and promotion of HRDs in the region. This tool offers valuable insights into the environment for HRDs by contributing to a regional dashboard that provides a unique, in-depth outlook on HRD protection. This supports efforts to safeguard HRDs and strengthen their role across the region. The Right to Defend Rights tool provides data on the regional outlook for HRDs in the Asia Pacific.
