SHARING THE LOAD
While working with First Nations and other negatively racialised
communities enriches the diversity and depth of stories, it is
crucial to be mindful of the dangers of burnout caused by expecting
individuals to be experts on all aspects of their cultures, customs,
and beliefs.
Diverse communities are inherently varied
in their cultural practices and beliefs; for
instance, it is unreasonable to expect First
Nations people to have knowledge about
all language groups and nations.
