Chapter 2 - Report of the Complaints, Monitoring and Inquiries Group (b) Mediation and Negotiation Training for National Human Rights Institutions The Commonwealth Secretariat in collaboration with the Commission organised Mediation and Negotiation Training for NHRIs. The training, which was facilitated by several experienced trainers, was held from 11-15 August in Kuala Lumpur. Three Commissioners and two officers participated in the training along with participants from Commonwealth countries. The training provided insights and input on the role of NHRIs in using mediation and negotiation skills to promote and protect human rights between parties. It explained the procedures and processes to help promote and protect human rights or resolve disputes resulting in/stemming from human rights violations. 54
