66 A. Rule of law 01. Uphold the citizens’ rights and freedom guaranteed by the Constitution and other laws of Sri Lanka, assisting and encouraging the voter to exercise his vote freely and without any obstruction to elect people’s representatives at elections and vote at referenda. 02. Safeguard the equality entitled to candidates of all political parties and independent groups at all times in the election process. 03. Respect the right of all political parties and candidates and the voters’ right to know while safeguarding the rights of those with opposing views. 04. Refrain from preventing and obstructing in any way the Government, Semi – Government, Private or other institutions from carrying out their work or responsibilities according to the law. 05. Refrain from obstructing or preventing statutory bodies and to those entrusted with maintaining law and order from carrying out their legitimate duties. 06.
