d) Reproductive Rights and Gender Based Violence It should be clear from the above explanations that reproductive rights of women can be violated and impacted by different forms of gender based violence, and the way in which we respond to such situations. These infringements will impact on the reproductive health of women directly, and indirectly through the impact on men and children in the family and community. The close connection between GBV and children’s wellbeing highlights the impact of this on our future generations. The concept of taking into account impact on rights between generations (inter generational rights) has been recognized in the Eppawela Case which dealt with impact on the environment. (See Annex).
