As in Christianity, in Islam to forgive is an act of worship which Allah will reward.85 Prophet Muhammad (MPBUH)counsels that one who does not attempt to reconcile with his brother for a period of three days, his prayer acts of worship will not be received by God with grace. Evenin the matter of wearing apparel for women, both Islam andChristianity prescribe a modestdress. In Paul’s 1* Epistle to Timothy,it ordains “that women adorn themselves with modest apparel, with shamefacedness andsobriety; not with braidedhair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array.”8° Islam makesit “haram”(sinful) for women to wearclothes whichfail to cover the body and which are transparent, revealing what is underneath. It is likewise a “haram” to wear tightly-fitting clothes which are sexually attractive. The Prophet (MPBUH) described such women as being clothed, yet naked, since their clothing being transparent andfine, does not do the job of concealing the body butis rather intendedtorevealit.87 The Prophet (MPBUH) too forbade Muslims to wear garmentsof “fame”, that is, clothes which are wornin order to impress others and which generate competition in vain andidle pursuits. According to a hadith or prophetictradition, “On the Dayof Resurrection, Allah will clothe the one who wears garments of fame with the garmentsof humiliation."8 Also, the Prophet (MPBUH) hassaid that Allah has cursed womenuse wigs, hairpiecesorfalse hair.89 In Deuteronomy,it is written that God hates women who wear men’s clothing and men who wear women’s clothing.°® The Prophet (MPBUH) of Islamdeclared that a womanshould not wear a man’s clothing nor a man a woman’s. He cursed men who imitate women and women who imitate men." Both religions prohibit men and womenfrom gazing at each other with lust.92 Menand womenare not allowed to mix in a private place and talk face-to-face under inviting circumstances.%?
