(Transfer Tunai)
Indonesia’s flagship conditional cash transfer program,
the Family of Hope Program (Program Keluarga Harapan/
PKH), expanded its coverage from 9.2 million to 10 million
beneficiary families (15 percent of the population) and
double the value of benefits over three months (April,
May, and June). The budget allocation for the PKH
Program has been increased by 29% to IDR37.4 trillion or
the equivalent of USD2.5 billion. Payment of the benefit
is also made every month, instead of every three months.
Goods
The staple food assistance program (previously known
as Non-Cash Food Assistance) has expanded its coverage
from 15.2 million households to 20 million low-income
households. The benefit value increased 33% for the nine
months period. The total allocated budget increased by
33% to IDR43.6 trillion (USD2.93 billion). A new type of
food aid was introduced to Jabodetabek residents by
the Central Government. Starting in April, it reached
approximately 1.8 million households with a value of
IDR600,000 for three months. In addition to that, several
regional governments also provided food and/or cash
assistance targeted to residents who were not selected
to receive assistance from the Central Government. For
example, the DKI Jakarta Government provided food
assistance to 1.1 million households, and the West
Java Provincial Government provided food assistance
worth IDR350,000 and IDR 150,000 in cash for 12,000
households.
Additional benefits for the PKH program in the form of
rice are provided from July to December.
